BMW iX3 LWB Dimensions and Design

BMW iX3 LWB India

The BMW iX3 L is designed primarily to provide more space for rear passengers. Its wheelbase stretches to 3,005 mm, making it 108 mm longer than the standard model. The overall length stands at 4,885 mm, while the extended body also brings longer rear doors and additional space inside the cabin.

The China-spec version gets 22-inch wheels, conventional pull-up door handles, and a distinctive L-shaped design element around the rear quarter glass. These changes give the long-wheelbase model a slightly different visual character while maintaining the overall styling language of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric SUV family.

Three Electric Powertrain Options

BMW offers the iX3 L in three variants: 30L, 40L xDrive, and 50L xDrive. The entry-level 30L uses a 77 kWh LFP battery and a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 265 PS and 500 Nm. It follows a rear-wheel-drive layout and focuses more on efficiency and everyday usability.

The 40L xDrive gets an 86.9 kWh battery paired with dual electric motors. It produces 374 PS and 565 Nm, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The range-topping 50L xDrive uses the larger 113.4 kWh battery and produces 469 PS and 645 Nm, completing the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 4.9 seconds.

BMW iX3 LWB Range Figures

Range is one of the biggest highlights of the new BMW iX3 L. The 30L has a claimed CLTC range of 630 km, while the 40L xDrive is rated for up to 702 km. The flagship 50L xDrive stands out with a claimed range of 919 km, making it particularly impressive on paper.

However, CLTC figures are generally more optimistic than WLTP figures, so the 919 km claim should not be directly compared with WLTP-certified numbers. For reference, the global iX3 40 and iX3 50 have claimed WLTP ranges of up to 636 km and 805 km, respectively. Real-world range in India could also vary depending on temperature, traffic, driving style, and road conditions.

Five key highlights of the BMW iX3 LWB

  • Up to 919 km claimed CLTC range
  • 113.4 kWh battery in the flagship 50L xDrive
  • New 800V charging architecture
  • 3,005 mm long wheelbase for improved rear space
  • India is planned among the selected international markets

Fast 800V Charging Technology

BMW has equipped the iX3 L range with its latest 800V electrical architecture. The 40L xDrive can support DC charging at up to 300 kW, while the flagship 50L xDrive can accept up to 400 kW. BMW claims that both versions can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

The entry-level 30L supports DC charging at a slightly lower rate and takes around 22 minutes for a 10 to 80 percent charge, according to BMW’s figures. AC charging capability is rated at 7 kW for the 30L and 40L, while the 50L supports up to 11 kW. Actual charging times will depend on the charger and conditions.

High-Tech BMW iX3 LWB Interior

The cabin of the iX3 L carries BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive interface. The dashboard combines a large 17.9-inch central touchscreen with a 43.3-inch Panoramic Vision display that stretches across the dashboard area. This gives the electric SUV a distinctly modern interior compared with BMW’s previous-generation models.

The 40L and 50L variants also receive a 3D head-up display as standard. China-spec models get additional comfort-focused equipment, including ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats and a massaging driver’s seat. The rear seats can recline up to 121 degrees, while the 50L adds a leg rest for the front passenger.

BMW iX3 LWB India Launch Expectations

BMW has already planned the iX3 Long Wheelbase for selected international markets, including India. This makes the model particularly important for the Indian luxury EV market, where buyers increasingly expect long range, premium technology and spacious interiors from electric SUVs.

The India-spec version could receive market-specific changes in terms of equipment, charging compatibility, and specifications. BMW has not yet confirmed the exact Indian variant lineup, launch date, or pricing. Therefore, the specifications of the China-spec iX3 L should not automatically be considered final for India.

BMW iX3 LWB Price in China

The BMW iX3 L starts at 269,900 yuan in China for the 30L variant. The 40L xDrive is priced at 299,900 yuan, while the range-topping 50L xDrive costs 339,900 yuan. These prices provide an indication of how BMW has positioned the three versions in its home market, although they cannot be directly converted into expected Indian prices.

The eventual India price is likely to be influenced by import duties, local taxes, equipment levels and BMW’s positioning against other premium electric SUVs. The final price could therefore be significantly different from the Chinese pricing structure.

Why the BMW iX3 LWB Could Be Important for India

The long-wheelbase format could work particularly well in India because premium SUV buyers often place strong importance on rear-seat comfort. The additional wheelbase provides more room for passengers, while the large battery and fast-charging technology could make the SUV more practical for longer journeys.

BMW iX3 LWB India

Its combination of performance, range, and technology could also help BMW compete in India’s growing luxury EV segment. The 50L xDrive, in particular, combines 469 PS with a large battery and advanced charging hardware, giving it the kind of specification package that could attract buyers looking for a high-end electric SUV.
