OBD Code P0113: What It Means, Why It Happens, and How to Fix It

In simple words, P0113 means the engine control module (ECM) is receiving a higher-than-normal voltage signal from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.

Now you might be wondering — why does that matter?

Well, first of all, the engine of your car requires the proper mixture of air and fuel to operate smoothly. The IAT sensor monitors the temperature of the air that enters the engine. The ECU then regulates the fuel accordingly.

When the engine receives an inaccurate temperature reading, and it’s too high, it may result in:

Loss of engine power
Rough idling
Struggling to start in cold weather

What Does the Intake Air Temperature Sensor Do?
